6 of Pentacles – Taurus 2nd Decan

(10th – 20th degree) - 1st May to 10th May.

6 of Pentacles

Thanks for continuing the journey of exploration into the relationship between tarot minor cards, astrology Decans, Tree of Life, and other energetic interrelationships. Below we will delve into the matrix of the 6 of Pentacles with the hope of providing insight into the situational effects of this card.

6 of pentacles allows us to experience, though temporary, the merging of both the male and female energies. This will become more evident as we explore the dynamics of the 6 of Pentacles energy make up and its correspondences in the life the individual.

First, let’s get a general feel of the 6 of Pentacles tarot card as understood as a divination tool. The cards meaning generally denotes success. It can be referred to as “the power of abundance” and “The lord of material success”.

I hear you ask but what is this success or is not success different to all people? To answer, I would say that a clue can be found in the element and zodiac sign of the card. The 6 of pentacles being the 6th card in the earth suit would point us to the material plane. Taurus (Zodiac sign) also being of the earth element draws us to the security of our needs whilst having an earthly experience.

In the days of old, security would have looked different to how it does now as the field has now become an electronic web. This only means that we have changed the way we secure our needs, with money being the mode of exchange of personal needs for material stability.

This is not set in stone or unchangeable, but highlights a movement based on innate desires. These same desires have been shaped by a person’s environment. The point I’m making is that the earth element is where we focus and ground our intentions for stability and family or wealth and finances. We achieve this with planning and by honing our skills and abilities, whether that means you’re a singer, farmer, web designer or doctor.

What skills do you have that you could exploit or have been exploiting in the name of your security and stability.

Lets not also forget that abundance and material success can be bestowed or aided by loving and nurturing hands. Charity works in two ways; one being a gift received or a gift being given. Times of abundance presents an opportunity to help those less unfortunate and a time to cement bonds. Abundance can be seen not just through the coin but through the heart or soul of an individual and their love.

Its good to note at this point that Taurus is also linked to the 2nd house in astrology. This house is associated with one’s skills, talents, and resources, basically the things which you possess and are willing to harness. Taurus as a Zodiac sign is known to be fertile and abundant through focus, slow but steady hard work and is sensually stimulated.

Taurus is a sign that delights in planning their future but enjoys the building process much more. The stubborn tendencies of the Taurian come from their fixed nature which denotes focus and quality over quantity if correctly used.

So, what is the source of all this fertile abundance? Yes, there is a lot of feminine power coursing through this card and period. We have the ruler of Taurus being Venus, who endows Taurus with a fertile womb and the desire to fill it. We also have the Moon who is in exaltation in Taurus, to whom the 6 of Pentacles is a direct manifestation of.

Both planets being perfect examples of feminine power working in unison, like the great Kamitic sisters Auset (Isis - Moon) and Het-Heru (Hathor - Venus). It was stated and known that it was the work and relationship of these two Goddesses which resurrected the God Ausar (Osiris) and brought forth his son Heru (Horus).

What does the Moon in Taurus denote and what is meant by its exaltation status? An exaltation can be referred to when something is in the best possible position or alignment to enable it to express its full capacity.

It is almost like placing a gifted child in a private school which is the highest ranking in his specialism. Most likely this child would blossom to reveal his genius in his field as opposed to if he went to a general under-performing public school. Reason being, a disconnect.

The classes are overcrowded, there’s a lack of resources and overstretched teachers. Whereas when the child is placed in the private school, classes are smaller, there’s more funding and better relationships between pupil and teacher. As such the child is in the best possible position to bring forth his brilliance.

In reference to the Moons exaltation in Taurus we can explore the Moons full capacity for security needs being meet on the material plane. Yes, the moon also denotes emotions, will, unconsciousness, family, mother/females, and Spirit. She is also the power of transcendence and a seat of learning and the power of devotion.

With all these factors to work with, the energy of Taurus beautifully harmonizes these traits for material success. The Moon provides the motivation, the birth and the nurture of ones needs and goals for security and stability, thus the 6 of Pentacles.

We can go a little deeper linking us to the second and fixed period of spring represented by the 2nd Decan of Taurus. A period known to be the most fertile part of spring and representative of abundance. With nature working with you and you with it how could you experience anything else but success!

To add further depths, the 6 of pentacles comes under the domain of the Major Tarot Card, ‘The Chariot’. The Chariot is ruled by Cancer and represents on the ‘Tree of Life’ the path from the 3rd Sphere (Seker - Spiritual Power, Binah - Understanding), to the 5th Sphere (Herukhuti – Divine Protection/Geburah – Severity).

The Chariot denotes the quest of the hero (Heru) to head the calling of its soul. This means action in the direction of your life path, full steaming ahead on a chariot placed on the tracks of your making.

The energy of the Chariot is potent, connected to the Zodiac sign Cancer, ruled by the Moon. This is feminine Moon power in the form of the fertile summer energy representative of the aroused life force energy. Summer further connects to the energy of Khepera, the creative force.

Seker (3rd Sphere) is also the seat of this creative force, Khepera and the life force energy Sekhem and its Goddess Sekmet and Bastet. Seker is also the seat of existence, the blueprint and source of your life that marks your birth and death.

Imagine being in control of such potent spiritual power, what would you create? Seker being also the station of the stern and disciplined Saturn, the gate keeper, its advised that we have the correct mind frame before we start creating. For Saturn is the Karmic task master that flourishes in teaching his ignorant students the error of their thinking.

The 6 of Pentacles also represents on the ‘Tree of Life’ the path from sphere 8 (Sebek-Verbal Thinking, Hod-Splendor) to sphere 9 (Auset -Transcendence, Yesod - Foundation). This is the path of the major tarot card “The Sun”. At this point let’s also look at the number 6 – Heru of the ‘Tree of Life’ who is also ruled by the Suns energy likened to “The Sun” card and the Zodiac sign Leo.

The sun is a power that gives and sustains life, put in its most evident mode. As such it’s a force which moves an object into manifestation whilst also providing the tools to make the most of its manifestation. This Life force is the fundamental, universal, and infinite building resource of all life represented by the sun only symbolically and not in its entirety.

What happens to this life force energy when it is placed in the 2nd Decan of Taurus, spring, for 10 days? Life happens, springing forth with this warming and stimulating vibration to secure ones needs. Ones will is focused via the Suns clarity and moved into action through an increase of a slow steady momentum. This momentum is representative of the warming of spring.

The ‘Tree of Life’ presents the number 6 – Heru as the son of the Sun and as such can harness, utilize, direct, and control this solar force (life force/energy/power) through his very being. Think as a solar panel receives the solar rays and stores them in a battery, we are both the solar panel and the batteries.

This is also an influx of strong masculine energy via the number 6 which becomes a seed of focus, will and intention. To be married to the Moon and Taurus’s fertileness through the act of sowing in abundant soil.

Heru (hero) represents in general terms the ability to discipline your will to reflect your highest self. By doing so one can free his self from the tyranny of your conditioning and erroneous thinking, releasing yourself from unnecessary suffering. Heru as a solar child is the epitome of your will which goes through three stages of development; represented as adolescence, young adult, and adult.

These three stages are a correlation to a person’s ability to develop and raise their consciousness. All of which couldn’t be achieved without an intense focus and devotion of ones will to fight the demons of fear, insecurity, and ignorance. The battle is won the more we refuse to surrender our will to establish our true self and soul needs as is possible in the period of the 6 of Pentacles.

Our Heru is activated and motivated to build a kingdom during this period as represented by the 6 of Pentacles vibrational spirit. This reflects your intentions and actions as reflected by the three stages of adolescence, young adult, or adult, which stage does your plans for security represent?

So, To conclude:

The second set of 10 days of Taurus, the 2nd Decan of Taurus, represents a temporary relief from the chaos and disorder of the 5 of Pentacles.Even though this period represents a temporary taste of success it’s a taste that is worth pursuing.

It’s the tap on the back that you needed. The motivation to continue through hard times. Definitely the first sprouting of carefully seeded plans. As well as the support of open hands ready to pull you up after descending into a black hole.

I would also like to highlight that the ‘Ace of Pentacles’ and ‘Princess of Pentacles’ are linked to the season of spring. Such fruitfulness of these cards only amplifies the potency of this period to birth, create, initiate, build, help, or be helped.

The ‘Prince of Pentacles’ oversees this period also; the heart of reaping what you sow, labor and work. All of which are intimately connected to Taurus as it rules from the 21st degree of Aries (last – 3rd Decan) to the 20th degree of Taurus (1st and 2nd Decans).

The 6 of pentacles represents a card and period that represent a time to count your blessings and be grateful. More importantly, one should allow no distractions to side track one away from your goals of personal, emotional, or soul security.

Charity is Karmic, what you give you shall receive, what you’ve sown so shall you begin to reap. This success isn’t a product of luck unless luck is understood to be the accumulation of your deeds, hence karma.

With the strength and clarity of the Sun combined with the feminine power to nurture and manifest, the wealth of spring within the 6 of pentacles is evidently rewarding. The only questions at this point is whether your fruits are ripe for picking and if they are how will you bring them to market? If they are not ripe, are you patience enough to continue their cultivation?

Note that the Moon will be in this position once a month, so this period repeats monthly but only for about a day via the Moons transit through Taurus. This allows us the ability to initiate or review our plans to secure our needs.

How are you processing your feelings during these times? How are you approaching your security? Are you overindulging? What are you birthing and nurturing?
